Amie placed 5th at the Olympia Amateur Pro Qualifier in Las Vegas
We want to give a massive shout-out to our very own Amie Rodriguez who placed 5th at the Olympia Amateur Pro Qualifier in Las Vegas in the category of Wellness earlier this month.
As a she is personal trainer passionate about bodybuilding and helping others, we asked a few questions about her process for members who may have the itch to compete themselves.
What inspired you to compete in this particular competition?
It was my first show. Initially, I had planned on doing a small regional show. However, my coach decided on the Olympia Amateur Pro Qualifier in Las Vegas as my body was in great condition to compete in the biggest and the most prestigious amateur show. My mindset was to 'go big or go home' – and I'm glad I had the courage to follow through. An extra incentive was that this could be my first medal in bodybuilding - and a big piece of memorabilia would be that 'Olympia' is written on the medal.
How long were you training and preparing for?
I have been bodybuilding for 3 years. I started prepping in January of this year for the Olympia Amateur Pro Qualifier in October. It was one of the most intense and eye-opening processes of my life. It doesn't just challenge you physically but it takes a lot of mental strength to stick and adhere to the plan to reach your goal.
What was your nutrition plan like
Nutrition is everything, my coach had a game plan and I followed it without fail. You have to be mentally strong to practically eat the same foods every day and only the foods that work for the body while suppressing all cravings. This is the part where most people fail or give up. I did not have a cheat day, cheat meal or anything that is not a part of my diet in 9 months - that's what it takes. My first cookie was 9 months since the start of competition prep in January 2024.
How did you find the competition itself?
It was the most exhilarating experience I could have asked for! I met amazing athletes and made some lifelong friendships. It is a very competitive sport, but everyone was so supportive and kind. The atmosphere was jealousy-free, where everyone was doing their best and supporting each other every step of the way.
When is your next competition?
My next show will be in 2026. Currently, my coach has me on an off-season regime for 2025, to grow more and come back better.
